Remember just a few months ago when folks on the internet were screaming  about the DOW falling to 2500?

Was it the end of investing?  No.  Were they wrong?  Yes.

Well the same thing is happening now, except people are looking at the bull market as unstoppable.  What will the future bring?  Don’t get hung up on the immediate past.  Don’t expect the good or bad to last forever.  Have a plan that accounts for the current environment and does not depend upon one single trajectory.

Hey Dave — You point out one of the main constants in the investment world. Whatever the direction the trend is going, it’ll never stop. It’s been that way since I can remember. Either folks think they’re all gonna be wealthy, or we’re all gonna die.

Its called “recency bias” by psychologists. Affects us all to some degree. But, it is really chilling to successful investing when folks don’t recognize it!
